Welcome to Burray Olson Designs

Burray Olson's paintings and wearable art leather clothing are well known all over the world.  Often under a label from another company he has worked with, but unmistakably his, it really needs no signature.

A graduate from the San Francisco Art Academy and Art Institute, and an old alumni of the Haight Ashbury in the '60s, he grew up making leather clothing for the rock bands of San Francisco.  These included Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, The Doobie Brothers, album covers for Quicksilver, and leather murals for Grace Slick

Moving to Los Angeles, and renting out his home in Marin County back in the '70, Burray opened a small shop on Sunset Blvd. two blocks up from North Beach Leather's location where he made custom work for many Hollywood notables and rock stars, including Dick Van Dyke, Barbra Streisand, Jon Peters, Chaka Khan, Buffie St. Marie, Dr. John, Billy Idol, country duo Brooks and Dunn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Jones, and even the legendary Groucho Marx, for whom Olson made hand painted likeness of Marx in his classic movies on a custom leather jacket.

Burray's Buffalo Jacket has been donned by the likes of Sly Stallone, Patrick Wayne, Anthony Quinn, Oleg Cassini, and the famous trial lawyer, Jerry Spence.

After working for years with North Beach Leather he met Arturo Arocha, the owner and leather manufacturer of the renown Pitic Leather in Sonora, Mexico, and spent the last seven years, designing the El Pueblo, and the high end Arturo collection, which is currently being sold in over 200 locations throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. The two lines speak for themselves when worn by the likes of George Jones, Geraldo, Neil Young, countless country and western groups and entertainers, top rock musicians and astute business men and women.
